Rearrange the Furniture

I have noticed that when I clean my dorm, I really clean. I don’t just dust and vacuum, there is also rearranging of objects to better suit my needs of efficiency. The other day I actually moved my desk, by myself, so that it was perpendicular to my bed. I now feel a bit more freedom, and the closed, trapped feeling is gone. I have found that I use my fridge and microwave more now since it is easier to get to them now. My books are starting to encroach upon the rest of the room too, they have taken over two shelves of my vanity. (I really don’t use the perfume my mother keeps sending me, but they do come in handy when I forget to shower and I need to smell a tad decent.)

After moving my desk and allowing my books freedom from the cave of under my bed, I got a thought. My room is exactly what happens when I try to write a story. I start out with something, usually something that isn’t very efficient, then I move, edit, and take away things that are cluttering up my room/story. My room is exactly the embodiment of a rough draft. With this real life example, I can better see how a rough draft works. Oh thank you life lessons, you do come in handy.

Though my room would be so much more efficient if my roommate didn’t have a keyboard on one side of the room. I remember her saying that it would stay under her bed, but I guess that is a lie. Of course I shouldn’t be surprised she lied about moving out too. Hmm, maybe she wouldn’t notice if I started to rearrange her stuff she would keep her side of the room clean. Time to experiment!
