Surprises

I finally got a response back from my professor on my story. Of course I conveniently forget how easy of a grader he is, especially when he gives me compliments. Might I add that I got a hundred percent on it, with very lovely compliments. I would post it here, but the people at Weird Tales don’t like reprints. Of course, they haven’t gotten back to me yet if my story is accepted or not. Fingers crossed and we will see how loud I can scream in joy/sadness from my small dorm room.

Ciao for now.

England

In less than a week I will be traveling to England for a two-week trip. I forgo finals week in favor of traveling around the ‘mother’ country. I am absolutely beyond excited, especially since I am submitting a travel piece to Weird Tales. I am crossing my fingers in hope that I will get published actually. It would be wonderful to actually get something down, edited, and finally published for the first time. Excitement tingles in my toes!

My piece is obviously going to be a twisted tale of potential darkness, though at this very moment it looks more like loneliness. I have the plot mostly hashed out, just need a clearer view of the setting. That’s where England comes in. I am going to be roaming all over Greyfriars cemetery and the castle in Edinburgh, taking millions of pictures so I may look back on them. Sure, I could look up pictures on the web, but I need to walk through it, get into my characters head and walk around in her shoes for a bit. I am so looking forward to this graveyard too.

On another note, my spot was taken in the library. The one place I go to make sure I don’t embarrass myself, well here and the PUB. But I need places like this so I won’t go onto sites that will make me squeal/scream/giggle/clap incessantly. It also helps with distraction and making sure I don’t shirk my goal of writing everyday. Go me for finding a solution. Plus it gets me out of my funny smelling dorm room for a good part of the day.
